Shortly after his inauguration in January 2025, President Donald Trump directed the heads of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection, both branches of the federal Department of Homeland Security, to throw out decade-old guidance that stopped officials from enacting raids and sweeps in hospitals, schools, and churches. This overstepping of the boundaries between church and state is troubling, and makes places of worship into potential battlegrounds.

Refusing them entrance without such a warrant is a right you have and should be prepared to use. Signs are available in both English and Spanish, which may be particularly important for the sense of safety for anyone in your community who only speaks Spanish.
