Meet the Filmmaker
Jeremy Bork is a 2013 graduate of Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. He served in a one-year ministry internship at First Reformed Church in Schenectady NY, and began studies at Western Theological Seminary in the fall of 2014. He received his M.Div. degree in May, 2107, and was ordained as Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Reformed Church in America that summer. Jeremy now serves as Minister for Youth and Families at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
During his senior year at Northwestern, Jeremy created a short video consisting of students responding to questions about same-sex relationships and inclusion in the church. After seeing the video online, Room for All’s Director, Marilyn Paarlberg, interviewed him for the RfA newsletter. They were able to meet at the RCA 2013 General Synod, where they discussed the possibility of having Jeremy create a video for Room for All. Through continued conversations, prayers and divine interference, “Room for Me?” was birthed, molded, and brought to completion.
Jeremy feels beyond blessed when he reflects on how special this journey has been for him. Having been silenced and mistreated by multiple Christian communities, he feels compelled to give a voice to the ignored and to challenge the church to ask what it really means to love one’s neighbor as oneself. This film is just one way he is trying to live out that vision.
