Today’s e-newsletter reflects on transitions, and announces that Marilyn Paarlberg, RfA’s executive director since 2010, is stepping down at the end of December, 2019. Marilyn reflects on the important role of transitions in prose, noting, “A well-crafted transition builds on what has happened and seamlessly orients the reader’s curiosity toward what’s coming on the next page. Of course, there’s a writer behind it all, but good transitions assure that the focus is on the movement of ideas or action, not the name on the book jacket.”
Comparing this description to RfA’s coming transition to a new executive director, she confirms that the process will be “careful, idea-driven, building on what has happened and then seamlessly turning the page, trusting the writer Author of Love to bring this story to fulfillment.”
Please read through the newsletter for some early details about succession plans and events, and be assured that Marilyn and the rest of the staff and the RfA Board of Directors are hard at work all year!
